Item Description
Striking, sharp, shapely, lustrous, partially translucent, gray orthorhombic dipyramidal thenardite crystals are densely intergrown on this outstanding large and sculptural mounded 3-dimensional floater concave crust. The impressive large doubly terminated crystal at top is 4.8 cm across. Thenardite is a relatively rare sodium sulfate. Formerly in the Al Ordway Collection - and collected by him in 1996. He sold or traded to Bob Reynolds - the both of them, legendary and respected California collectors. A very choice large example from the locale, which gave up best of species material, and from important California collections. Hard to value as you never see them for sale!
