Item Description

Here we have a big cabinet specimen of Theisite, a rare secondary copper zinc arsenate mineral (with antimony content) found in fahlore deposits. The mineral was named in 1982 after Nicholas J. Theis, a geologist at the Bendix Corporation, who first found the material. This piece is a hefty specimen featuring attractive radial "sprays" of beautiful bright blue-green Theisite measuring to about 2 mm, sitting on host rock matrix from the Tyrol of Austria. We've photographed the little groups with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
