Item Description

A very apt name for this bizarre looking large combination fluorite specimen from this closed modern fluorite mine (1964-1981). The broken back of this piece has a striking spade-shaped section of fluorite encircled by banded chalcedony! Glassy, highly lustrous, transparent to translucent cubes to 3.2 cm cover the mounded front of this large plate and are nicely accented with a field of quartz points at the base. The cubes are mottled pretty lavender to off-white, similar to more familiar and nearby Boltsburn and Frazer's Hush Mine specimens. Specimens from this mine are much rarer than the nearby mines and this is a very rare combination example. Rich fluorescence! Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and acquired just before the mine closed.
