The Rice Northwest Museum of Minerals - personal VIP Tour

The Rice Northwest Museum of Minerals is one of the treasures of US mineral museums, tucked into a pleasant corner of the Northwest and just 20 minutes outside of Portland, Oregon. The director of the museum has offered up a personal guided tour of 2-4 people and will give you an inside story on the museum, its collections, and its powerful displays of minerals to the public. There are over 1000 fine specimens on display, including a number of famous pieces such as Rhodochrosite from Colorado, one of the world's best Sperrylites, hundreds of old USA classics, etc, etc. for more information, see here: https://ricenorthwestmuseum.org. Current featured exhibitions include SILVER (with loaned specimens on display from important private collections such as Meieran and Spann); and the "Gene Meieran Topaz," a 400-pound single large and perfectly terminated Brazilian topaz crystal on display. Other galleries include some amazing Northwest minerals (especially zeolites) and a petrified wood collection on display which contains over 460 worldwide specimens collected by Dennis and Mary Murphy over 40 years. The variety of colors, species, and localities make this among the nation’s finest. On view are cross-cut slices, full rounds, and tall tree trunks of petrified wood. Overall, one of the most important mineral museums open to the public, it has more to see than most major large urban museums offer.
