Item Description
Thaumasite is a very rare calcium sulfate species, that is typically found either in micro material or very thin "needle"-like crystals, so gemstones are impossible to facet. The famous N'Chwaning Mines in South Africa have produced what are unquestionably the finest examples of the species ever found, with thick, robust GEM quality crystals. With that said, Thaumasite is still difficult to facet and due to its chemisty, it's not very dense material, so a stone this size still weighs under 1 carat. Regardless, most rare stone collectors do not have a good faceted Thaumasite in their collection, and this particular stone is a superb example. This "emerald" cut stone is virtually colorless with slight inclusions. If you collect rare stones, the only place in the world that produces gem quality Thaumasite is the Kalahari Manganese Field, so do not miss out.
