Item Description
Huge, single (maybe compound?) crystal of the unusual sulfate, Thaumasite. Rather than a well-defined crystal habit, this white-to-clear, translucent-to-gemmy Thaumasite has striated surfaces that show off the excellent, vitreous luster (it is much more reflective than the photos can adequately capture). The crystalline structure here is considerably better developed than most Norwegian Thaumasites. Previously owned by Hamburg collector Georg Jasker, #5858 was acquired by Kay in the late 1960's. A HUGE crystal for the species, period. Valued $1000-2000
