Item Description

Schwatzite is an old synonym for mercurian tetrahedrite, named for the Type Locality Swiss area where it was first found. Sharp, moderately lustrous, dark reddish-gray, crystals to 1.2 cm are attractively scattered and surrounded by starkly contrasting white to tinted barite blades on quartz matrix. These are large crystals for the species. Periphery wear and one broken crystal are noted in the interior, but for this old-time piece, it is acceptable. The beautifully handwritten German label from the 1800s to early 1900s is a work of art in itself! Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. valued $750
