Item Description
Schwatzite is an old synonym for mercurian tetrahedrite, named for the Type Locality Swiss area where it was first found. This was once a valid species in its own right. Sharp, moderately lustrous, dark gray, crystals to 1.3 cm are attractively scattered and surrounded by starkly contrasting white to tinted barite blades on quartz matrix. These are large crystals for the species. This outstanding old-timer is in great shape, with pristine crystals. The handwritten German label dates from the 1800s to early 1900s. Valued at $750.
