Tetrahedrite Subgroup (large crystals) with Sphalerite

When it comes some of the finest crystallized examples of well-known sulfide species, Peru is among the world leaders in this category. You've all seen the amazingly impressive high quality Pyrites from various localities in the high Peruvian Andes, but a lot of people don't think about the impressive Tetrahedrites that have come out over the years. These specimens were all the rage a few decades ago, and should still be appreciated by collectors despite their drop in popularity. This attractive large miniature / small cabinet display specimen features large, sharp, well-formed, rather lustrous, striated silvery-grey colored tetrahedra of Tetrahedrite measuring up to a whopping 3.0 cm on edge associated with matte black Sphalerite. The piece has almost minor visible roughness in a few spots, but it looks better in person, so don't pass this one up if you collect sulfides or association pieces, as good Peruvian Tetrahedrites are not common on the market today. It should be noted that Tetrahedrite is no longer a valid mineral species, but there are a few confirmed end members (Tetrahedrite-(Fe), Tetrahedrite-(Zn) and Tetrahedrite-(Hg)), and it's impossible to know specifically which species this is without analysis, so these specimens are now referred to as the Tetrahedrite Subgroup unless the actual species has been identified.
