Item Description
Tetrahedrite specimens are RARE from Naica, we've only had a handful of them over the years. This piece features several good quality, sharp, well-formed tetrahedral crystals measuring up to 6 mm sitting on white "feathery" Calcite crystals on host rock matrix. There is one particular pair of Tetrahedrites on the specimen that appear to be twinned, as they seem to share a common plane, making the piece even more enticing. A very light dusting of golden Pyrite can be seen on some of the faces of the Tetrahedrite crystals. For the most part, the piece is in good shape, but it's rough on the left and right edges where it was removed from the pocket wall. If you're a fan of sulfides or specifically minerals from the Naica Mine, do not miss out on this great opportunity to pick up a good quality specimen of these elusive Tetrahedrites that date back several decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5165). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
