Tetrahedrite on Quartz (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A great old classic specimen of the famous and elusive Tetrahedrites from the Bingham Canyon Mine. Sharp, well-formed, brilliant, very lustrous, tetrahedral crystals of silvery-black Tetrahedrite measuring up to about 3-4 mm on Quartz matrix. Up close the crystals look beautiful, and it's difficult to find good Tetrahedrites on nice Quartz matrix like this from the Bingham Canyon Mine. These specimens came out in the 1950s and are very few and far between these days. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#640). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
