Item Description
RARE sharp, metallic-gray, dodecahedral tetrahedrite crystals, to 8 mm, are aesthetically clustered the quartz matrix plate. The tetrahedrites rest on a RARE for the locale bed of tiny sharp dolomite rhombs with some quartz points. Close examination of tetrahedrite crystal faces with a loupe suggests coatings of pinkish brown Famatinite microcrystals, a Cu-Sb sulfosalt. The scattered broken crystals are certainly acceptable in the context of this very fine and rare old-time combination. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8096 and acquired from the Cisneros' in February, 1977. Previously in a German collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Excellent, rare and old combination material from this well-known Austrian locale.
