Item Description

The Madan ore field, like Dal'negorsk, Tsumeb, Trepca and Peru, is legendary for combination sulfide quality and diversity and this is a very fine example. Startling, sharp, golden iridescent, stepped-growth chalcopyrite crystals to 3.8 cm are dramatically encased in melted-look galena cuboctahedrons and lustrous, twinned sphalerite crystals. The back reveals the fabulous, colorful iridescence of the chalcopyrites. The modest periphery wear to the chalcopyrites is certainly only a modest detraction. Outstanding combination material from the Bob Trimingham Collection. Valued at $500.
