Item Description

The various ore bodies in Peru have produced some of the finest crystallized examples of various common sulfides in the world. These specimens were all the rage a few decades ago, and should still be appreciated by collectors despite their drop in in popularity. This attractive display specimen features sharp, well-formed, silvery-grey colored tetrahedra of Tetrahedrite measuring up to 6 mm associated with Sphalerite and Pyrite on Quartz matrix. The piece has almost no visible damage, and looks better in person, so don't pass this one up if you collect sulfides or association pieces. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff on one of his famous 3x5 index cards that states the piece was acquired from Gary Nagin.
