Item Description

Years ago there were so many of these superb quality sulfides from Peru on the market, and they seem to have disappeared recently. This piece features several sharp, lustrous, metallic grey/silver color tetrahedral crystals of Tetrahedrite meausring up to 2.3 cm on edge. They are associated with some very gemmy, colorless Quartz prisms and brown/black Sphalerite crystal. The main crystal is contacted on the upper portion of the tip, and with that said, this is a good quality display specimen, and these pieces are becoming more and more difficult to obtain these days. The piece is from the Allen V. Heyl Collection, a geologist from Colorado, for whom the species Aheylite was named.
