Item Description

From the world famous Herodsfoot Mine, which is best known for its world class Bournonites, here we have one of the great representations from this locality. I'm sure anybody familiar with Cornish minerals has seen the beautiful specimens of Tetrahedrite coated with brilliant golden Chalcopyrite. This is a good example of said material, featuring tetrahedral crystals of silvery-grey Tetrahedrite which have a selective depostion of somewhat iridescent pink and golden Chalcopyrite sitting on/in Quartz and sulfide matrix. The largest crystal measures 1.2 cm. The center of the piece is undamaged, while the periphery is contacted where it was removed from the pocket. From an old east coast collection, and comes with an old typed label. To read more about this locality, be sure to check out the stellar article in the Mineralogical Record, Volume 43, pgs 411-486.
