Item Description
A beautiful piece of solid Tennantite from Wheal Jewel in Cornwall featuring dozens if not hundreds of sparkling, metallic, silvery-grey colored micro crystals associated with minor iridescent Bornite. The label accompanying the piece states that it was mined in the 19th Century, like many pieces from Cornwall. It should be noted that Tennantite is no longer a species, and it is defined now as the Tennantite Subgroup which consists of the species Tennantite-(Zn) and Tennantite-(Fe). With that said, we're leaving this simply as Tennantite as it hasn't been analyzed to confirm its identity. A wonderful old time specimen of this hard to find material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11317). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
