Item Description

Sharp tennantite crystals specimen seem RARE from any of the over 30 Australian localities listed in MINDAT for the species, though sadly we do not have precise locale info on this piece. This sculptural, stalactitic-looking specimen with a nifty knob is composed entirely of sharp, moderately lustrous, striated, sooty-gray, tetrahedrons to 1.3 cm. A soft white mineral (calcite?) with scattered clusters of tiny quartz points are a nice contrast. Parts of the sides and ends are contacted, but this remains a RARE, probably old-time example of the species with well-developed sharp crystals. Ex Bob Whitmore Collection. Value??
