Item Description

Personally, these are some of my favorite pseudomorphs from Tsumeb, which is saying something considering the wide array of pseudomorphs seen from this prestigious locality. This attractive large miniature / small cabinet features a fairly sharp, attractive, well-formed pseudomorph of Tennantite after Azurite, free of matrix. No real damage that I can see with the naked eye, and really nice example of this classic material. I don't know of another world locality where Tennantite (which technically should be labeled now as Tennantite Subgroup unless the specific species is known), which is a copper sulfide, replaces a secondary copper carbonate like Azurite. This specific piece dates back to the 1960s-1970s era of mining at Tsumeb.
