Item Description
A classic and desirable pseudomorph from the renowned and extinct Tsumeb Mine. Tennantite has pseudomorphed a sculptural, angled cluster of elongated Azurite blades. The large pseudo is 4.2 cm long and the cluster rests on massive Tennantite matrix. One pseudo has a broken tip, which is certainly only a modest detraction. A dusting of green malachite adds color and character. It's not common to have a sulfide replacing a secondary ore mineral like this, as sulfides are typically deposited first, and then minerals like Azurite and Malachite form afterwards. The specimen displays well without aid. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces. A showy example of this fine pseudomorph style and type known from Tsumeb from old finds.
