Item Description

Tennantite pseudomorphs after enargite are rare from the Butte and the famous Leonard Mine. Dark metallic-gray, matte-finish, tennantite has pseudomorphed the sharp enargite crystals that totally cover this sculptural and very rich specimen. Scattered broken crystals on the piece, reveal that the pseudos are hollow! (referenced in the Mineralogical Record Butte special issue). The scattered quartz crystal clusters add pizzazz and color. The matrix is mixed sulfides. Rare and classic older material from the Bob Trimingham Collection. From the Ralph Mackay Collection (1919-1976) and mined in the mid-1950s, according to his label. A MUST for the locality or species collector. The piece displays well without aid. Value??
