Item Description
A GEM-QUALITY, 3.2 cm, typically discoidal, furrowed, deep bottle-green moldavite tektite jauntily set in rounded pebble conglomerate from the Type Locality in the Moldau River region of the Czech Republic. The backlit and frontlit photos show the gemmyness of the piece. Moldavites are green natural glass, thought to be formed from meteorite impact melting the local rocks. Matrix specimens are VERY RARE and are rarely available. In fact, I cannot recall the last time I had one around. THis matrix is friable and so it issomething to handle with care, but it IS the real matrix this was found in, and as such presents this gem rough material in context. Valued $750-950
