Item Description

Moldavite specimens from this obscure Czech locality are uncommon. Tektites are a natural glass formed from a meteorite impact melting the local rock, thrown up into the air and coming down as molten globs causing the intense furrowing. Moldavites are named after the main occurrence at the Moldau river in Southern Bohemia and originated due to the impact of a meteorite in Bavaria 15 MM years ago. This is a reference pieces only, nice for a pendant or study sample rather than as a beauty in and of itself, but kinda neat with the history. Mass is 44.11 carats or nearly 9 grams mass. It comes with a faded Lazard Cahn label dating from 1927-1940.
