Item Description

A sculptural, intensely furrowed moldavite nodule from the Czech Republic. Moldavite is a Tektite varietal, a natural glass formed from a meteorite impact melting the local rock, thrown up into the air and coming down as molten globs causing the intense furrowing. Moldavites are named after the main occurrence at the Moldau river in Southern Bohemia and originated due to the impact of a meteorite in Bavaria, Germany 15 MM years ago. This is a fine, glassy, translucent forest-green reference piece, nice for a pendant or a study sample rather than as a beauty in and of itself, but kinda neat with the history. Backlighting reveals the rich green hue. Nearly all specimens come from the Czech Republic. Mass is 23 grams.
