Item Description

"Snowballs" of nubby tarnowitzite crystals are richly scattered on the 3-sided rib of gemmy and lustrous, light brown smithsonite rhombs with stunning effect on this rare and very showy combination specimen from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. The largest snowball is 1.3 cm and all the pseudo-hexagonal crystals have a preferential snow-white secondary, drusy coating. Much 'tarnowizite' has been identified as a mixture of aragonite and cerussite and this may be the case here. Outstanding, rare combo material from the Rob Smith Collection, a noted Tsumeb specialist. Valued at $750
