Item Description

Tarbuttite is an ultra-rare zinc phosphate and the famed Broken Hill Mine of Zambia is the Type Locality. Glassy, bladed aggregates of iron oxide-tinted blades richly and aesthetically cover the gossan matrix. Periphery wear and a bit of bruising are noted, but this remains a showy and rich example of the rarity from the Type Locality. Specimens, such as this fine old-timer probably date from 1970s or earlier. From a museum collection and was on display there.
