Item Description

An EXTREMELY RARE combination specimen from the Type Locality of tarbuttite, a very rare zinc phosphate. Pyromorphite is reported from the Broken Hill Mine, but documented specimens are uncommonly rare. This outstanding two-sided, bowl-shaped miniature features translucent, yellow-green, hexagonal, Pyromorphite barrels to about 4 mm in association with glassy tarbuttite crystals in the bowl. The back of the bowl is totally covered with glassy, tan, tarbuttite prisms. Exceptionally rare and fine combination material from this extinct mine. This old-time piece probably dates from 1906 to prior to World War II. Ex J. Blackie Collection. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collecton and obtained in a trade from the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow in 1977. Value??
