Item Description
Tapiolite is a rare niobate species, which is not often found in euhedral, well-formed crystals. This piece is labeled as coming from Galileia, Brazil, but there is not entry on mindat.org for the species from this area, so we're simply labeling is "Brazil", though it could be from the Córrego Frio Mine in Linópolis. This specimen features sharp, well-formed, lustrous, jet-black, defined tetragonal crystal faces on the display side, though the back of the piece is contacted. No matrix, just a loose, fine quality Tapiolite that would make a great addition to any rare mineral collection, a thumbnail suite or a collection of Brazilian/pegmatite minerals. From the collection of Bruce Jarnot.
