Item Description
A gorgeous thumbnail consisting of abundant small crystals of this lesser known iron-tantalum oxide from the Linopolis pegmatite district in Brazil. Numerous, submetallic, black-gray, 2 to 5 mm, sharply formed Tapiolite-(Fe) crystals are stacked artistically in an abbreviated C-shape that stands 2.2 cm tall and measures 1.5 cm across. Good specimens of this rare Tantalum-bearing mineral are difficult to find in any size, let alone as a thumbnail. This fine piece was originally in the Luis Menezes collection and then to Alvaro Lucio. Small but sharp, superb, and beyond excellent for the species. (You can also trust the ID given the two previous owners!)
