Item Description
Rare, multi-colored, tanzanites were prominently featured in the recent Merelani Hills article in the Mineralogical Record. This striking, aesthetic and very rare combination specimen features an unusually colored, gemmy and lustrous, untreated crystal with tri-chroism and dramatic shades of blue, purple and yellow-green! The tanzanite is partially wrapped in a blanket of milky quartz and is fabulously accented with very rare, sharp, mirror-bright, brass-yellow, pyrite octahedrons to 1.2 cm. The contacted tanzanite termination is frosted/etched, with only trivial edgewear. The color-zoned growth in the interior is plainly visible on this glassy crystal. The tanzanite is complete all-around and the large pyrite has only trivial edgewear. A very rare, variably colored tanzanite crystal with extremely rare accessory pyrite! With current governmnent export restrictions, the market price is going up on many tanzanite specimens. Valued $1000 for uniqueness, in a lot I bought from the mines.
