Tanzanite with Calcite & Graphite

Gemmy to translucent, lustrous, striated, color-zoned tanzanite crystals are aesthetically intergrown on this sculptural and RARE small cabinet combination from the famous Merelani Hills, source of the world's finest tanzanite specimens. The large crystal is 5.0 cm long and looks good although both ends are contact (not sharply terminated, as they grew against matrix). The colors grade and depend on lighting: pale purple to blue to light yellow hues. Patches of Graphite are noted at the base of the piece. The back is festooned with VERY RARE glassy, translucent, large for the locale, Calcite rhombohedrons, to 8 mm. An attractive and highly unusual Tanzanite with Graphite and rare Calcite crystals.
