Tanzanite is one of the most popluar gems in the world, and fine crystals are fast becoming some of the most desireable gem crystals in the world. Rare, bi-colored Tanzanites were prominently featured in the 2009 Mineralogical Record issue on the Merelani Tanzanite Mines. This piece is a beautiful, sharp, lustrous, very gemmy, fine quality Tanzanite crystal from this world famous locality. The crystal is tapered on the termination and exhibits classic pleochroism with a fine blue hue when viewed from the front / "a" axis, and then purple can be seen when looking across the "b" axis, but the most important aspect of the crystal is the fact that when looking at the "a" axis, you can see it shows a rarely seen blue and yellow-green bi-color effect!
