Tanzanite (parallel growth crystals)

Wow! The striking, jagged terminations of these gemmy parallel-growth tanzanite crystals really give this miniature super pizzazz! The trichroic colors of this untreated beauty are readily apparent with the vibrant blue of the front and back, violet on the edge and gorgeous rose-reds. The lower section of this very glassy crystal is layered translucent to near opaque. Complete on three sides. One end is a cleave and the termination here has a very small bruise. The rest of terminations are pristine. The back is contacted and there appears to be tiny glassy stilbite blades embedded here, along with bit of yellow zoisite. Certainly an exotic looking and excellent tanzanite from the Merelani Hills. 72.16 grams mass.
