Item Description
Matrix tanzanite specimens are fairly uncommon and this very cute, two crystal thumbnail sits on a matrix of sparkly graphite crystals. The pretty, gemmy and lustrous, upright spearpoint has a jauntily angled, well-striated tanzanite crystal in front. The spearpoint has classic tanzanite pleochroism: a purple frontal view; light blue side sides; and faint red scattered about angling down on the C-axis. The graphite matrix minimizes the C-axis color but it is present and not heated to lose it. The sharp termination also has a bit of greenish-brown color to add character. The right side of the spearpoint is pristine. A bit of minute wear on the left side of the spearpoint is noted, but is a very modest detraction, on a technical basis. A partially contacted back of the spearpoint is out of sight in rear, and the front is sharp. This highly unusual tanzanite cutie will not cost you an arm and a leg. 5 grams.. valued $1000
