Stunning violet-blue color characterizes this striking and aesthetic, elongated, parallel-growth pair of gemmy and highly lustrous tanzanite crystals. This crystal of dichroic tanzanite has been heat treated to bring it to this saturated and even hue (it has a certain look to the experienced eye), but we consider heated tanzanite acceptable when disclosed (unique amongst the gem specimens), as it is so beautiful and as this makes up the bulk of the available crystals anyhow given that so many are heated at the mines. Portions of the termination and other areas are very gemmy, but most of this beautiful and elegant crystal has internal veils so it is not gem rough quality although those enhance the depth of color by refracting light. Complete all-around and pristine! The two small contacts at the base, where other crystals once lay, are not damage per se. A very fine and sculptural tanzanite crystal. 96.25 carats or over 19 grams mass. Valued at $2000-2500.
