Tantalite (rare locale)

Item Description

Tantalite specimens of any type, tantalite, tantalite-(Mn) or tantalite-(Fe) are very uncommon from any of the 11 Namibia localities listed by MINDAT. This is a sharply terminated, very well formed euhedral crystal with lustrous, dark metallic-gray faces. Complete all-around and in great shape. One termination edge has a small ding. One side is partially dinged and the contacting at the base, with little actual damage, are certainly only modest detractions to this very fine and shapely rarity. Valued by the former dealer at $695 and labeled by him as tantalite-(Fe).
