Tantalite-(Mn) (ex Obodda)

Item Description

Manganotantalite specimens from this well-known pegmatite locality are rare and seldom available. This excellent, amazingly well-formed, tabular crystal has a beautiful termination and sharp, tapered edges to go along with the lustrous prism faces. Most of the crystal appears to be black, but this one has a lovely internal metallic blood red color on the lustrous faces when a light is reflected inwards. This is a good example of this uncommon pegmatite species from this locality. Minor dings and edgewear keep it from being perfect, but overall it's still a worthwhile piece of this relatively obscure material. Ex Herb Obodda specimen.
