Item Description
Steatite is a massive variety of talc with a greasy feeling. A rind of greenish-gray, knobby talc with a very greasy feeling and waxy luster covers two sides of the massive talc matrix on this rich and showy example from this historical locale. Talc specimens of this form and varietal are seldom available. Probably older material, but no proof. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and formerly in the H. Westenberger Collection, according to Bob's label.
