Item Description
A true classic from the old Verde Antique Quarry in Vermont, where the some of the finest color and CRYSTALS of the species have been found. The glowing blue-green hue is reminiscent of a soft Phosphophyllite hue, and although it's a pastel shade, it still has a subtle saturation that really makes it stand out. Now the color is certainly rare for the species, as most Talc is white or a variation of grey, but this piece hosts distinct, rarely seen CRYSTALS (!) which are actually somewhat GEMMY, which is notably rare for the species. The crystals show a somewhat slick vitreous luster and a slightly foliated habit. A small amount of matrix completes the piece. These are nearly impossible to find on the market these days, and how often does one have the chance to purchase a crystallized Talc with such a wonderful color? HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH - BETTER IN PERSON! From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered. The piece comes with labels from collector Ken Hollman that states it was collected in 1970, along with a label from noted dealer Phil Scalisi.
