Item Description

It is truly amazing to discover a beautiful new mineral species in today's world, especially one with macroscopic crystals. This is exactly what happened in the early 1990s with the discovery and naming of Szenicsite, a one-locality, very rare, copper molybdate with ELECTRIC GREEN COLOR. This unusual specimen has Szenicsite associated with contrasting, lime-green Powellite, creating a green-on-green contrast that is quite attractive, as if the Szenicsite needed any enhancement! The Szenicsite is excellent on its own merits, with lustrous, metallic, lamellar blades to 2 cm. And, of course, the Powellite fluoresces beautifully. A terrific, and rare, comination piece. It retains the original label of Aurora Minerals Corp, under which Terry Szenics sold these specimens himself at shows at the time in the mid 1990s. Valued at $1250-1500. A superb reference specimen rich with material
