Item Description

Stunning, sharp, well-formed "feathers" of synthetic Magnesium form a very exotic small cabinet specimen. The feathers have a fine, moderate metallic-gray luster. Certainly a surreal and incredible man-made mineral specimen from some kind of smelter process. This is the second of two old specimens, we had in the Taylor Hunt Collection, mostly purchased in the 1990s and early 2000s. Lightweight for its apparent size, at only 166 grams mass. This is common lab-grown material, in principle but is highly interesting as a specimen for a native element collector.
