Sylvite with Halite (ex Van Tichelen Collection)

Item Description

A good quality association specimen from the Salton Sea locality featuring very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft yellow color octahedral crystals of Sylvite sitting atop Halite matrix. The piece hosts crystals that measure up to 2.5 cm, which is quite good for the locality, and Sylvite in general. For reference, the Halite formed as an evaporation crust on a former shallow back bay in the SE side of the Salton Sea. Ex Wouter Van Tichelen Collection, formerly in the collection of Mark Rogers. Very good quality and size. You can't get this old time material anymore, and obviously this is a halide, so it must be kept out of damp environments.
