Item Description
A good quality association specimen from the Salton Sea locality featuring very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, nearly colorless octahedral crystals of Sylvite sitting atop Halite matrix. The piece hosts crystals that measure up to 2.1 cm, which is good for the locality, and Sylvite in general. For reference, the Halite formed as an evaporation crust on a former shallow back bay in the SE side of the Salton Sea. The piece comes with an Ordway's Minerals label. Very good quality and size. You can't get this old time material anymore, and obviously this is a halide, so it must be kept out of damp environments.
