Lustrous, dendritic aggregates of flattened, golden-silvery sylvanite crystals richly cover the dense matrix coated with contrasting calcite. This old-timer is from the historic, gold-mining district of Offenbanya, Romania, the Type Locality for sylvanite. The old paper label in German has an 1854 date on it! This is only 19 years after sylvanite was discovered at Offenbanya. Certainly, one of the larger and richer sylvanites you will see from from this historic locale. The label is a bonus! Valued at $1250-1500 for size, richness and age.
