Item Description
This well trimmed matrix features a 2-cm-lng crysatl of sylvanite! WOW! Sylvanite is a very rare silver gold telluride. Large crystalks are only known from a few locales, of which the most historic are in the now defunct old mining districts of Romania and in Colorado. Seldom do you see such large crystals, in particular from Colorado. This crystal measures 20 mm in size, and is superbly displayed on a well-trimmed matrix. Minor microscopic purple fluorite is in association. I regard this as a MAJOR specimen for the species and locale, far more impactful and important than its physical size would indicate otherwise; and I have seen pieces not as good for $1500-and-up over the years. I value it highly, and got it out of an old collection for $1000, believing it to be worth quite a bit more.
