Item Description

Although Topaz is found in many different colors in nature, blue is probably the most associated hue with the material. Here we have a nice Swiss Blue Topaz gem, which is a well-known in today's market. The material has been around for approximately 40 years and made a huge splash when it was first introduced, and the beautiful blue color still attracts buyers and gem collectors today. The material was born out of a large demand in the market for blue Topaz, but natural material wasn't nearly as plentiful as was needed, so a method of irradiating colorless Topaz was created to turn the stones blue in varying shades. This method is well-known in the gem trade and is not at all frowned upon, provided that people KNOW that they're buying a treated gem. There are actually very few gems in the world with this color as this gem has a light hue. The gem is also virtually eye clean with an "Oval" cut.
