Item Description
A classic and rich example of the rare manganese borate species, Sussexite from Franklin featuring a group of somewhat platy, orange-pink, semi-translucent crystals associated with black Pyrochroite matrix. The Franklin Mine along with the Trotter Mine and the Hamburg Mine are all credited as the type locality for Sussexite, and the species is named after Sussex County, where Franklin is located. Specimens associated with Pyrochroite like this are quite rare in my experience, and this particular specimen is quite showy and good quality to boot. The piece comes with an old typed label from the collection of William and Marian Casperson.
