Item Description

The Susanna Mine is the type locality for Susannite, along with other classic Scottish minerals like Leadhillite, Lanarkite and Scotlandite. This famous lead producing district closed down nearly a century ago (circa 1930) and provided collectors with lots of interesting and attractive mineral specimens. This piece was originally labeled as an Anglesite from Mineral Unlimited, but Paolo Matioli relabeled it as it contains micro Susannite, which took precedence over the Anglesite crystals. The Anglesites are the "black" crystals in the center of the piece, and their color comes from inclusions of Boulangerite. Typical associated Quartz and Barite can be seen mixed in the matrix as well. A cool rarity and historic "old time" specimen from this famous area in Scotland.
