Superb Rope Silver w/ Dycrasite & Galena (old classic) Robertson Coll.

Item Description

An old-time, showy and rich silver ore thumbnail from the historic mines at St. Andreasberg. A striking, two-sided, bent bladed column of terminated dyscrasite is richly covered with native silver. There's a hint of galena on the bottom of the piece. Dyscrasite was the most important silver bearing species here. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7100 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at the MSSC Show in 1974. Kay assembled an important suite of classics and rarities from this famed district. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). See the Mineralogical Record St. Andreasberg Special Issue, May-June, 2017, Vol. 48, No. 3. The is piece undoubtedly dates to the 1800s, as the last mine closed in 1910.
