Item Description

Bolivia actually is a treasure trove of minerals, although so few species ever made their way to market. This is one of the classics of the past, first brought out in the early 1900s by mineralogical expeditions and seen as classics ever since, for the superb crystallization of these transparent avellite crystals. This is one of the most aesthetic examples of the rare Bolivian wavellite specimens we have seen to date. It is a literally perfect miniature of impeccable quality, with a pristine 1.6-cm-wide spherical cluster of translucent, straw-yellow wavellite perched atop a cluster of gemmy quartz points. You could not ask for a better positioning! These are considered by many to be among the finest examples of the species. It is a specimen that Jack Halpern purchased from well known Bolivian specialist, Brian Kosnar, long ago. We valued this at $2000-2500 in appraisal. It is VERY fine.
